Actress Angelica Panganiban revealed that she underwent another hip surgery to cure her avascular necrosis as she affirmed the importance of “listening to one’s body.”

Mayo Clinic defines avascular necrosis as “the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply.” In her latest vlog, Panganiban shared that after her first surgery three months ago, she felt that her condition got worse.

“After a month kong nag-bed rest, after month noong surgery bumalik kami sa doctor.

(After the first surgery, I went on bed rest for one month, then we went back to the doctor. I am the one who feels, and I explained that nothing happened; in fact, I felt worse. The doctor said I should just be patient and give myself about five years before I have a hip replacement. I couldn’t stand it.)

The “One More Try” actress underscored that having the option to have another surgery, which is hip replacement, was something that she knew she had to choose.

Kasi kung walang paraan at ‘yun na talaga ‘yung situation ko, then I have no choice. But kung may paraan, ‘yon ang hindi ko matatanggap,” she said.

(You already feel defeated, you already feel defeated by your illness, then I would just lie down, I would just lie down for five years? Like I’d just watch my daughter grow up and play without me, when in fact there’s a way. Because if there is no way and that’s really my situation, then I have no choice. But if there is a way, that’s what I can’t accept not doing it.)

Panganiban emphasized that the recent sudden death of her mother opened her eyes to how fleeting life can be and that it’s important to listen to what your body needs.

(Since mom died suddenly, it really dawned on me that “wow, life ends so fast.” I will not allow something to happen to me while I have many regrets and many wishes in life.)

“Siguro ang takeaway ko rito ay (Maybe the takeaway here is) listen to your body. No one knows what you feel but you). Kung ano ang sa tingin mong tama (Whatever you think is right), you have to fight for it,” added the actress.
